When school was fun
We built a rocket in science class
The past was better than the present
For lunch we got taco boats
When life was simple
I always imagined moving would be fun
It challenges my memory of old places.
I got used to living on unknown streets.
Always excited to start a new adventure.
Counting one blessing at a time.
My dad used to be my hero
But then he divorced my mom
My mother used to be my idol
But parents weren’t created for that
So now I am silent and depressed.
I looked forward to weekends away,
Not having to remember anything from school
Having just enough money to buy ice cream
Eating cookies for lunch because I can
Trying to take life not so seriously
Every year around Christmas my family would have guests.
It was always my grandparents on my dad's side.
I loved seeing how happy he would get.
Sometimes the said visiting was hard because of money,
But my parents would always help out.
